Step by Step guide to setting up your Freelancer Profile

Step by Step guide to setting up your Freelancer Profile

Step 1 - Login and view your Dashboard

Go to your account dashboard  You will be asked to log in if you are not already logged in.

Your profile is made up of 5 sections.  Contact Details, Profile Photo, Listing Details, About and Service Areas.  These are shown by coloured buttons on your dashboard.  The button will be orange if nothing has been saved for this section and green if it has something in it.

You will also see a message bar at the top of your profile that looks like the one below.

The steps on the page will take you through the process of completing your account details and getting ready to make your account live.

Step 2 - Contact Details

Click on the contact Details button on your dashboard to enter or edit your details.  This section is split into three areas

Contact Details

The short description field is displayed in your search results.  It is an ideal place to write something short that will make the reader want to click your profile button. The website will use the first few words of your about me page if this is left blank.

Location Details

The location details is an important area to get right.  This tells the system where you are based and will be used to tell the user how far aware you are from their search area.  To protect your personal home address, we recommend that you do not enter your complete address, but do include the city and county.

if you type the address in the top box the system will populate your address fields for you and position the pin on the map in the right place.  You can move the pin by clicking and dragging it and we recommend that do place it in the center of the city you want to serve rather than on top of your own home address.

Website links

This section is simple.  If you have any links for the social media pages below, then fill them in!  It is better to include a facebook page rather then your personal account otherwise you may get requests to be friends with people you have never heard of before.

Click Save to save these details.

Step 3 - Profile Picture

Your Profile Picture is your headshot and is shown at the top of your profile and on the search results page.  You must have one of these.but if you are camera shy, you can use a photo of you doing the activity you want to be hired for.

It is easy to crop the photo once you have uploaded it so don't panic about the right image size.

The cover photo however does need to be the right size (1140 x 200) but it can be left blank if you are unable to make an image this size or do not have an appropriate image.

Step 4 - Listing Details

Step 5 - About me

Step 6 - Service Areas
