About Roger Chandler

Why am I an outdoor Instructor?

I enjoy seeing young (and older) people expand their comfort zone through the successful completion of Outdoor Activities. I have been a scout leader in the UK for 12 years and run the Bath District Young Leader Training Programme.

What are my specialist areas?

Hiking and Stand Up Paddle Boarding, but to be honest, I am happy to help with any outdoor activity and am often involved with most through my work with Scouts.

What Freelance work do you do?

Stand up paddleboarding in and around Bath or any other outdoor activity.

I am happy to work with Duke of Edinborough Expeditions locally around Bath or within the Brecon Beacons and Dartmoor, especially having seen the positive effect it has had on my own daughters.

What did you do before becoming an outdoor instructor?

I used to be a geotechnical engineer and founded and grew a company in the IT industry for 25 years. I still help local companies as a digital mentor and often find myself helping activity companies with their website or digital needs.

However, after 25 years as a corporate desk jockey, I decided it was time to embrace my love for introducing people to the outdoors and am now an outdoor instructor.
